IPCC AR6 – a Q&A with scientists from Working Group 2

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published the Working Group 2 part of its Sixth Assessment Report on Monday 28 February.  The contribution of WG2 covers Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability.

This briefing was a Q&A session with eight of the scientists who contributed to the report.  There were no presentations – the purpose of this briefing was to answer any questions journalists had about the report.

 

Panellists included:

Dr Mike Morecroft, Principal Specialist on Climate Change at Natural England; and coordinating lead author of Chapter 2 (Terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their services)

Prof Richard Betts, Head of Climate Impacts Research at the Met Office Hadley Centre and University of Exeter; and lead author of Chapter 4 (Water)

Dr Helen Adams, Senior Lecturer in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation at King’s College London; and lead author of Chapter 7 (Health, wellbeing and the changing structure of communities)

Prof Lindsay Stringer, Professor in Environment and Development at the University of York; lead author of Chapter 8 (Poverty, livelihoods and sustainable development) and coordinating lead author of CCP3 (cross-chapter paper on deserts, semi-arid areas and desertification)

Prof Daniela Schmidt, Professor at the School of Earth Sciences and the Cabot Institute, University of Bristol; and coordinating lead author of Chapter 13 (Europe)

Dr Peter Alexander, Interdisciplinary Senior Lecturer in Global Food Security at the University of Edinburgh; and lead author of Chapter 13 (Europe)

Prof Rachel Warren, Professor of Global Change and Environmental Biology at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of East Anglia; and lead author of Chapter 16 (Key risks across sectors and regions)

Dr Lisa Schipper, Environmental Social Science Research Fellow at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford; and coordinating lead author of Chapter 18 (Climate resilient development pathways)
