Last December fifty of the world’s leading experts on climate change and biodiversity took part in a workshop jointly organised by the IPCC and IPBES which focused on discussing opportunities to meet both climate change- and biodiversity-related goals.
A workshop report has been produced and will contribute to the scoping of the IPBES assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health and feed into the IPCC AR6 Working Group and Synthesis Reports.
Journalists joined this briefing to hear from some of the scientists who participated in the IPBES-IPCC co-sponsored workshop as they presented the report and answered any questions.
Speakers included:
Prof Camille Parmesan, National Marine Aquarium Chair in the Public Understanding of Oceans and Human Health, Plymouth University
Prof Alex David Rogers, Science Director, REV Ocean
Dr David Barnes, Benthic Marine Ecologist, British Antarctic Survey
Prof Pete Smith, Professor of Soils & Global Change, University of Aberdeen
This Briefing was accompanied by an SMC Roundup of Comments.
