The NHS Future Forum, the body tasked with providing feedback and advice to the government on reforms to the NHS, published its second report on the proposed reforms and highlighting areas where they could be clarified or improved.
Sir Mark Walport, Director of the Wellcome Trust, said:
“Close links between the health service and academic research and teaching are essential to delivering both evidence-based patient care and outstanding medical education. We therefore welcome the emphasis these proposals place on the role of academic partners in the development of the NHS and public health workforce. Steps must now be taken to realise this vision in everyday practice, so that academic partners play a strong role in planning and delivery as key members of Local Education and Training Boards.”
