A report published by the ABPI (Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry) suggests a drop in number of industry clinical trials in the UK.
Nicola Perrin MBE, Chief Executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), said:
“These figures are very concerning. A drop of this magnitude in access to clinical trials in the UK is damaging both to the UK’s position as a world leader in research, but also for the many patients that benefit from participating in clinical research. While we recognise the huge strains that the NHS is facing, urgent action is needed to ensure that the UK remains an attractive place for funders to support clinical trials.”
‘Rescuing patient access to industry clinical trials in the UK’ will be published by the ABPI at 00:01 UK time on Thursday 20 October 2022.
