Floods and droughts are among the costliest impacts of climate change, and changes to rainfall patterns will affect everyone on the planet. It’s vital that we understand how water will be affected by climate change, yet there are major uncertainties in the science, particularly at the regional level where they are most needed.
In a paper published in Nature Climate Change, nine of the world’s leading climate scientists call for major international investments to build a new generation of climate models that can answer fundamental questions about the future of our water and the scale of the climate risks we face.
