Developmental Language Disorder – an unrecognised burden

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), a form of learning difficulty, has received little recognition amongst the public or medical community yet it is extremely common, has a lifelong impact and there are interventions that can help.

In a special issue of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry new research looks at a number of topics including: the proportion of children in youth offending facilities with DLD; long-term educational impacts of the disorder; an increased vulnerability of sufferers to sexual abuse; trials of interventions.
